Bronx

The Bronx sculpture by Łukasz Trusewicz was created after a series of meetings and talks with the residents of Lublin's Stare Bronowice, especially with the young people living here, as part of cooperation with the Workshop of Socially Involved Art Rewiry. Thanks to its placement in the public space at the intersection of Łęczyńska and Fabryczna streets, the sculpture will serve as a welcome sign.

Bronowice - colloquially known as the Bronx, not only with the name, has a lot of references to the district of New York, which is the cradle of hip-hop. The Lublin "Bronx" is home to young people who, through their interest in music and creating their own songs, cultivate the culture of hip-hop. The positive values that follow are self-development, positive competition, respect for knowledge and tolerance for diversity. Hip-hop songs emphasize pride in where you live, which is just as important whether it's the Bronx or Bronowice.

The form of the sculpture refers to the golden overlays of the so-called grills on the teeth worn by rappers. The artistic object is made of natural material - recycled wood supported by a steel structure.

The unveiling of the installation is scheduled for September 11th at 4pm as part of the All Inhabitants Festival.

During the festival, there will be various cultural activities, workshops and the discovery of a new welcome to the Lublin district sign - the Bronx sculpture.
